{"id":7860,"date":"2009-04-23T10:23:07","date_gmt":"2009-04-23T15:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/timesandseasons.org\/?p=7860"},"modified":"2009-04-22T10:27:01","modified_gmt":"2009-04-22T15:27:01","slug":"diy-mormon-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesandseasons.org\/index.php\/2009\/04\/diy-mormon-art\/","title":{"rendered":"DIY Mormon Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Step One:  Be nice to Ardis so that she&#8217;ll send you high-resolution files of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keepapitchinin.org\/2008\/12\/28\/the-loveliest-missionary-tract-ever-published\/\">art<\/a> that you have fallen in love with.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Step Two:  Wait for artists&#8217; canvas to go on sale at Michael&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>Step Three:  Buy photo transfer paper, muslin, and mounting hardware.<\/p>\n<p>Step Four:  Print out the art work onto the transfer paper.<\/p>\n<p>Step Five:  Find your iron.<\/p>\n<p>Step Six:  Iron the transfer paper onto the muslin.<\/p>\n<p>Step Seven:  Cut the muslin so that it is as big as the canvas plus a two-inch border on each side.<\/p>\n<p>Step Eight:  Wrap muslin around canvas and tape on the back. Cut to size.  Nestle into jars.<\/p>\n<p>(2) Fabric hanging:  see above re iron-on transfers.<\/p>\n<p>(3) Photos on trays:  make plain black-and-white copies of photos.  Dip photos into an equal mixture of school glue and water.  Smooth photo onto tray.<\/p>\n<p>Note that all of the wood was purchased unfinished, painted dark red, and then sprayed with crackle-coat spray paint.<\/p>\n<p>And now a bleg:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sgriccia.net\/Documents\/Sgriccia\/Ship%20Photos\/1914-1927%20Dante%20Alighieri.jpg\">This<\/a> is the ship that brought my great-grandmother to America.  (There are other photos I&#8217;ve found, as well.)
