Alison Moore Smith was born in 1964 in Provo, Utah, and handed over to\u00a0her real<\/strong>, loving parents two days later in the Skaggs parking\u00a0lot. That’s what we call a blue light special.<\/p>\n In 1985 she married her dream man, Dr. Samuel McArthur Smith, in the\u00a0Salt Lake Temple. She graduated from BYU in 1987, three weeks after\u00a0their first child was born. They are now the proud parents of six\u00a0children: Jessica, Belinda, Alana, Monica, Samson, and Caleb.<\/p>\n Alison is now in her 15th year of homeschooling her children. Jessica\u00a0is an official graduate of the Smith family homeschool, affectionately\u00a0known as Oakwood Academy. She is a senior at BYU majoring in film\u00a0production with an editing emphasis. Belinda was just accepted to BYU\u00a0for the fall 2009. The younger Smith children are equally brilliant,\u00a0talented, and beautiful and still attending Oakwood Academy.<\/p>\n Alison loves singing, writing, programming, blogging, reading,\u00a0holidays, karate, and rice crispies with sugar free chocolate milk\u00a0powder and skim milk. She ran (using the term loosely) the Top of Utah\u00a0Marathon to celebrate her 40th year on earth. Her first book, The 7\u00a0Success Habits of Homeschoolers<\/em>\u00a0will be published this year–if\u00a0she gets the charts done. She speaks<\/a> at conventions for homeschoolers\u00a0and women’s groups across the country.<\/p>\n She is the director of SwingShift Singers<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0(now on hiatus), CFO\u00a0of Adept Systems<\/a>, owner\u00a0of AlphaSmith<\/a>, and founding\u00a0editor of Mormon Momma<\/a>.
