I eventually aborted it since the subject was too big and unwieldy. Still, I\u2019m looking forward to the day when somebody puts together a glossy coffee table book with not just pretty pictures, but also the architectural history and insights of all the different temple designs. (Although the excellent website <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/churchofjesuschristtemples.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">churchofjesuschristtemples.org\/<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is close).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Still, I thought as a sort of coda to that enterprise I would provide a list of temples that, in my opinion, do a good job of incorporating unique, local styles into the general Latter-day Saint temple ur-style instead of using a standardized plan that\u2019s been done a thousand times already.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This list is not comprehensive, and I\u2019m sure I\u2019ve missed some.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Japan, Sapporo<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This recent addition to the Japanese landscape boasts <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ldsliving.com\/japan-temple-dedication-sandwiched-between-2-tropical-storms-we-watched-the-hand-of-the-lord-stay-the-elements-president-nelson-shares\/s\/82961\">a Zen Garden i<\/a>nside<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-47076 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/timesandseasons.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/90-800x450.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"356\" height=\"205\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Mexico, Mexico City<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Made in the Maya Revival style that includes Mayan and Aztec elements, so it kind of looks like an ancient Mesoamerican temple. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-47077 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/timesandseasons.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Mexico_city_temple_night.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"447\" height=\"339\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Bangkok, Thailand<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe design of the Bangkok Thailand Temple follows the patterns and colors found within Thai architecture.
