DRAWING ACTIVITY: Many of Isaiah\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s prophesies contain very vivid imagery. Give each student in your class one of these scripture references: Isaiah 2:2, 2:4, 11:6-8, 40:4, 45:23, 54:10, 63:2, 66:15. Give each child a piece of paper and pencil and ask them to draw a picture of their verse. As they do this, write the list of scripture references on the board. Then, show the class what the others have drawn and have them look up the references on the board and see if they can figure out which picture goes with which reference. Explain to your students that sometimes Isaiah can be difficult to understand because the images he used are not clear to us.<\/p>\n
MATCHING GAME: Write each of these scripture references on a separate index card: Isaiah 7:4, Matthew 1:23, Isaiah 9:6-7, Matthew 2:2, Isaiah 11:10-11, Matthew 1:6 and 16, Isaiah 53:5-6, Matthew 27:50. (Note that each prophecy from Isaiah is fulfilled by the passage from Matthew that is listed immediately after it.) You could use them to play a concentration-type game. Or, for a more physical variant, you could tape the cards up around the classroom and have your students find the matching pairs.<\/p>\n
TIME MACHINE: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Isaiah and the Time Machine,\u00e2\u20ac? Friend, Aug. 1994, 16, is a short story about Isaiah that you may want to read to your class. As a variation on this story and the drawing activity above, you could bring a large cardboard box to class and have your students draw some images from Isaiah on it.<\/p>\n
