So that the status of nominations and seconds are clear, I&#8217;ve compiled the list below of those who have been nominated and seconded (and who will therefore appear on the popular vote ballot), those who have been nominated, but not seconded. Please see the <a href=\"http:\/\/timesandseasons.org\/index.php\/2013\/12\/nominate-the-2013-mormon-of-the-year\/\">original post<\/a> for rules and qualifications.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that several nominations and seconds were made anonymously or using obvious pseudonyms, enough valid nominations and seconds were received (I seconded several myself that I thought were worthy) that no names needed to be thrown out.<\/p>\n<p>Now is your chance to make sure the candidate you favor actually makes the ballot. Please review the rules, and you can make nominations or second nominations either below or on the original post.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, those who have been nominated and seconded DO NOT need additional seconds or expressions of support!! You will be able to vote starting January 1st.<\/p>\n<h3>Nominated and Seconded (will appear on the ballot):<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ezekiel_Ansah\">Ezekiel Ansah<\/a>\u20135th pick in the 2013 NFL draft, despite the fact that prior to 2010 (or so) he had never played a football game in his life.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Murder_of_Travis_Alexander\">Jodi Arias<\/a> \u2014 dominated the headlines for the first five months of the year like no other Mormon has all year. Arias was convicted May 8th of the murder of her duplicitous LDS boyfriend, Travis Alexander.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Orson_Scott_Card\">Orson Scott Card<\/a> \u2014 LDS Author whose award-winning novel Ender&#8217;s Game was made into a movie released this year. Card&#8217;s views on homosexuality have led to calls for a boycott of the movie.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Clayton_Christensen\">Clayton Christensen<\/a> \u2014 Former Area Authority Seventy was named \u201cworld\u2019s top management thinker\u201d this year for the second time.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brandon_Flowers\">Brandon Flowers<\/a> \u2014 No Mormon has had more international visibility for many years and this is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deseretnews.com\/article\/865582792\/Mormon-rock-star-Brandon-Flowers-open-about-his-faith-on-tour.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">very much ongoing in 2013 <\/a>as he performed in numerous countries. As I was writing this comment, Brandon is again performing at the Wembley stadion in London in front of 80,000 fans\u2026 Millions of his fans know he is Mormon. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4PF0h7oqUEQ\" rel=\"nofollow\"><em>I\u2019m Brandon Flowers and I\u2019m a Mormon<\/em><\/a> has been viewed close to a million times.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.chron.com\/mormonvoice\/2013\/06\/the-tattooed-mormon-a-modern-pioneer\/\">Al Fox<\/a> \u2014\u00a0the \u201ctattooed Mormon;\u201d influential tattooed covert and blog and YouTube personality<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Terryl_Givens\">Terryl and Fiona Givens<\/a> \u2014 authors of &#8220;The God Who Weep&#8221; who organized, with Richard Bushman, a series of conferences in locations around the U.S. to address doubts of many members.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Darius_Gray\">Darius Gray<\/a> \u2014 LDS author known for exploring race issues.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Genesis_Group\">The Genesis Group<\/a> \u2014 African-American social group based in Salt Lake City.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lars_Peter_Hansen\">Lars Peter Hansen<\/a> \u2014 professor of economics at Chicago and winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in economics for 2013.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richard_D._Hansen\">Richard Hansen<\/a> \u2014 Dr. Hansen, of the FARES foundation, has contributed significantly to the rewriting of our understanding of the Maya preclassic with is work at El Mirador<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Imagine_Dragons\">Imagine Dragons<\/a> \u2014 for releasing two top 10 singles (Radioactive and Demons) and winning Favorite Alternative Rock Artist at the American Music Awards.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/OrdainWomen.org\">Kate Kelly<\/a> \u2014 founder of Ordain Women<\/li>\n<li>LDS Feminists \u2013 OrdainWomen, Let Women Pray, Wear Pants Day<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mike_Lee_%28U.S._politician%29\">Mike Lee<\/a> \u2014 U.S. Senator notable this year for his involvement with the right wing of the Republican party.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hans_Mattsson\">Hans Mattsson<\/a> \u2014 Swedish former Area Authority who talked publicly about his faith crisis with the New York Times.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jabari_Parker\">Jabari Parker<\/a> \u2014 Highly regarded basketball player currently playing for Duke.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Daniel_C._Peterson\">Daniel C. Peterson<\/a> \u2014 made headlines for his controversial exit from the Maxwell Institute in 2012.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/ordainwomen.org\/ow_news\/\">Ordain Women<\/a> \u2014 group that organized almost 200 women and men who faithfully waited in line to gain entry into the priesthood session on October 5.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Harry_Reid\">Harry Reid<\/a> \u2014 U.S. Senate Majority Leader who triggered the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2013\/11\/21\/politics\/nuclear-option-explainer\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">nuclear option<\/a>, allowing confirmation of nominees by the Senate with just a majority instead of 60 votes. Sorenson<\/a> \u2014 author of a major work on Mesoamerican convergences with Book of Mormon lands: <i>Mormon\u2019s Codex<\/i>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Walker\">Paul Walker<\/a> \u2014 demonstrated the best of a successful actor giving back to the world with gentle kindness, non-pretentious work ethic, dedication to charitable causes\u2013all accomplished having navigated the course as a non-practicing Mormon.
