{"id":2768,"date":"2005-12-09T17:50:12","date_gmt":"2005-12-09T21:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/timesandseasons.org\/?p=2768"},"modified":"2009-01-16T17:26:54","modified_gmt":"2009-01-16T21:26:54","slug":"mormonsploitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesandseasons.org\/index.php\/2005\/12\/mormonsploitation\/","title":{"rendered":"Mormonsploitation!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>That is the name of a film series currently going on at the Pioneer Theater in Manhattan&#8217;s East Village. <!--more-->  The tagline for the series is: &#8220;A quick overview of some of the Mormons&#8217; crazy and dangerous ideas, as well as some of the goofy characters the LDS community has brought forth into the celluloid world!&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p>Screenings include <em>Trapped by the Mormons <\/em>(2005)  (&#8220;starring NYC Drag King Johnny Kat&#8221;), <em>All Dolled U<\/em>p (2005), <em>Primer<\/em> (2004), <em>Trapped by the Mormons<\/em> (1922), <em>New York Doll<\/em> (2005),  John Ford&#8217;s <em>Wagonmaster<\/em> (1950),  <em>A Mormon Maid <\/em>(1917), and a medley of <em>Man&#8217;s Search for Happiness<\/em> (1964), <em>Cipher in the Snow <\/em>(1973), <em>The Mailbox <\/em>(1977), and <em>How Do I Love Thee <\/em>(1965).  Also included are various other Mormon shorts, and <em>Peluca<\/em>, Jared Hess&#8217;s precursor to <em>Napolean Dynamite<\/em>.
