\nActivity: Hold up a piece of fabric and explain that just as we can’t see through the fabric, our sins keep us from God. Try (and fail!) to rip the fabric, showing that we can’t bridge the distance that sin puts between ourselves and God. Now give a child a pair of scissors and have them cut the fabric in half. This symbolizes how the atonement makes it possible to return to God’s presence. Now read Mark 15:38–this is the first event after the death of Jesus (v37).
