The collection of his short stories, Benediction, is probably one of my most cherished volumes. It is too bad its so hard to get (thankfully, Amazon has still found a few for only a few bucks). Many of the stories make me laugh out loud. I think anyone reading your comments on the Gospel Doctrine lesson would especially enjoy “Benediction” which features a typically (alas) common approach in our GD classes today. I certainly sympathized with the recently released teacher who didn’t follow the manual (but thought it might be somewhere in his car). Thanks for these lessons every week. Of course, your book sold out immediately after our conversation and I’ve had some fairly pointed comments to the staff of our local DB who can’t ever seem to get their re-order in.
