For the truth is that the god king Susebron is in fact an uncommunicative and sheltered man-child whose ideas about the world are based primarily on children’s stories and who has only the vaguest notions of romantic love or female anatomy. (Would a Mormon bride ever find herself with such a mate? No, of course not.)

Brilliant. I don't expect to read three finer sentences than these anytime soon.

Nice review and commentary, Jonathan; you make me interested in Sanderson. But Kent (MC), where's the love for Mormonism's premier fiction writer, Shannon Hale?

Awesome. Now my husband is bugging me to run out and pick it up. Brandon is his old writing teacher and we've met up with him the last few times he toured into Seattle. I haven't read Elantris, but I adored the Mistborn series.

In the eternities, Albertson's will probably not be a hot pick-up site. You will probably not converse with gods by leaving paper mache fish outside their apartment doors. But I'm just speculating here.

I'm curious, what are some examples of, "the discrepancy between the ideal of eternal marriage, and the reality of the dating scene at BYU"?

Warbreaker looks good. I'm sure the Wheel of Time conclusion will be good too, but I'll still give it a miss.

But am I going to read a series of 12 massive books that I've avoided for the last three decades, just so I can understand Brandon Sanderson's conclusion to the series? Sorry, no, not this time.
