Hau’oli la Hanau, Nate.

My esteemed co-blogger Nate often says that he considers me “older and wiser.” For the next few months, however, that description will only be half-right. That’s because today is Nate’s birthday!! (And so for a few months, we’ll be the same age).

Congratulations on the big 3-0, Nate. Hau’oli la hanau. You can now officially cast your ostraka. I hope you’ll be able to escape Sidley enough to spend a bit of time with Heather and Jacob. (And if not, hey — we can always argue about chiasm some more, right? What could be more fun than that? Perhaps we can go out for some Brazilian food and split a bottle of grape juice).

  1. Wow- happy birthday! I just hit 30 in January.

Of course you already know how silly I consider birthday stuff to be, but still- best wishes!

jordan: your & johns ages always weird me out. it’s just weird to think john is younger than me…

  3. If Steve Evans is saying that from experience, then clearly in turning 30 Nate Oman is . . .
    poaching.

  4. Happy Birthday, Nate.

Does this mean they’re going to kick you out of the family ward?

  6. Good point, Russell. If 30 is old, then there are several of us on this blog who are at least old, if not ancient or even decrepit.

  7. Come on guys, I’m only 20 and I feel old…. oh well, no time to complain. No time to sleep either.

  8. Sorry, Nate, in my comment I neglected to say Happy Birthday. Can we get the Primary to sing? “Happy, happy birthday Natey Dear. May happy times come to you all year…”

  9. Very nice, Nate, but then becoming 30 means you are getting closer to “wise and seasoned” rather than old?

Actually, I don’t mind that I am getting older. There are a lot of very good things about being old enough for all the children to have married and left home, grandchildren among them. I wouldn’t mind having the body of a thirty-year-old again. Trips to the doctor can remind me much better than they used to just how corruptible mortal flesh is. But other than that, I wouldn’t trade my age for any younger one. There are too many advantages to this age to regret it.

    Enjoy getting older.
