Early this morning, our Site Meter rolled over the 20,000 visitor mark. Kaimi noted the first 10,000 five weeks ago, on January 22. That first 10,000 required nine weeks of blogging. Based on traffic this week — which passed 400 visitors per day for the first time on Wednesday — we will reach the next 10,000 sometime well before the end of March. Although I rarely purport to speak for all of the bloggers on this site, I think that I can safely venture the following: we all appreciate the opportunity to engage in this forum, and express thanks to our visitors, particularly those who take the time to share insights about Mormonism. Keep coming back, and tell your friends!

Is that 20,000 discreet visitors, or the same 15 of us logging on 20,000 times?
Good question. I’ve already logged in 10,000 times this week alone.
My understanding is that each day the counter counts only unique individuals. Thus we had 400 different actual people visiting yesterday. No matter how many times you visit the site each day, you only count as one person. However, the counter resets itself each night, so that tomorrow you can be counted again when you visit.
Nate is right, that is how the traffic counter works, with one caveat. The counter counts individual IP addresses. This means that a person who visits from two computers in a day is counted as two visitors, and two visitors who share a computer are counted as one.
Some networks also share IP addresses for many users. In those cases our traffic counter would count a whole office of dedicated T&S readers as a single visitor because they all connect to the Internet through a shared server.
Maybe all this traffic ended up here quite by accident in their search for Beverley Lahaye’s new book _Times and Seasons_ ;)

To answer your question, Brayden, Site Meter also tracks page views. We’ve averaged 3.3 page views per unique visit, or a total of 67,215 as I write this comment.
